It’s undeniable that first impressions matter, and that they have a strong influence over our relationships and outcomes… but I wanted to investigate how much they matter.. And how we can be conscious of them, without feeling like utter failures if we somehow blow our opportunity to make a shiny sparkly first impression on someone we really hoped to!
Fear is why asking yourself the question, “What would I do if I knew I couldn't fail?” is so dang powerful. Because SO MANY OF US are terrified of failing, so we sit in inaction, or inauthentic action.
It’s taken me the better part of the last four years to find the right balance between having confidence in my knowledge and ability to add value as a leader, coach and consultant, and recognizing that there is so much that I DON’T know, and being a perpetual student is much closer to my reality (and frankly, all of our realities).
Potential founders fall in love with their product or service, or maybe even the vision of being self-employed and living a #boss lifestyle, but fail at understanding the number one thing every successful business requires: a problem (a problem that people are willing to part with their hard-earned money to solve).
I wanted to share this story with you because a) you might realize that you yourself have had some valuable entrepreneurial experience under your belt without even knowing it and b) I wanted to get your wheels turning on whether or not you CURRENTLY have a product, service or skill that you could be monetizing, whether in a side hustle or full time business!
Relationships are so important, in fact, that they are the number-one predictive element of an individual’s success. This isn’t just the number of connections you have, however, but rather a combination of the number, the quality and the depth of the relationship that leads to what is called social capital.
